HENSCHELL CRICKET ACADEMY PTY LTD was established in 2008 by former Queensland First Class cricketer, Brett Henschell, to provide a locally based coaching service dedicated to improving the skills of cricketers in Brisbane’s western and south-western suburbs.
Research had shown that some players were travelling across Brisbane to access coaches and were desperate for a service closer to home.  A Holiday Clinic was advertised and conducted in the Winter of 2008, with some 58 boys and girls in attendance confirming the demand.  From that first step, Henschell Cricket progressed to conducting Holiday Clinics, Personal Coaching Sessions and Coaching Events, plus being contracted to a number of private schools to provide Holiday Clinics on campus and team coaches.
Nine Holiday Clinics are conducted each year from July to January.  Four are open to the general public and conducted at Brookfield United Cricket Club (Brookfield Showgrounds/Brookfield State School).  The Clinic program varies in content depending on the time of year.  Five are held for Private Schools and incorporates the needs and requirements of the individual school.
Personal Coaching Sessions, utilising the small group model, with a maximum of four students of similar age and ability, was conducted 2008-2025.  The emphasis of the program varied depending on the time of year and the playing commitments of individuals.  Regular written reports were provided to players and parents, whilst footage of individuals batting and bowling/keeping was taken for analysis and discussion during the Term.  Stumps were drawn on this service in 2026.
All coaches representing Henschell Cricket are Cricket Australia accredited and have undertaken further training via an internal coach mentoring program recognised by the Australian Cricketers Association.  Many current coaches attended Holiday Clinics and Personal Coaching Sessions as students and there is no greater accolade than a student wanting to become a coach where they learnt their cricket.
